(cf. Gen 16:10, Hagar). Usually it is a man’s seed that is mentioned. Some see in the singulars (“he” and “your”) a hint that a single descendant of the woman is meant. This seems unlikely for a number of reasons. Consistency would seem to require that the serpent also have a single “seed” which would be in conflict with the woman’s seed. It is not obvious who this singular descendant would be. Further the word for “offspring” or “seed” is usually a collective noun which is singular in form but plural
